Jesus spent his last evening before his arrest with his disciples in a garden. According to the Scriptures, this garden was a place where Jesus often took his disciples to pray, and it was a place that He often went to be alone with His Father as well. In this sermon, Pastor Mike encourages us to imitate Jesus by having a place (a garden) where we too can go "up" to meet with the Father.

When we decide to make God the object of our worship, who do we find when we go UP? We find a God who is holy. As a matter of fact, Isaiah says that "Holy" is His name. In this sermon, Pastor Mike takes us on a journey through the Scriptures to see how people of old who caught a glimpse of God's holiness reacted and responded - with the hopes that we will get a glimpse of God's holiness and respond in the same ways.

We've already established that we all worship something. In Psalm 16, David reveals what happens when we make God the object of our worship - above anyone or anything else. The result is that we end up receiving the very things we were looking for when we unwisely decided to place something else as ultimate in the place of God. Pastor Mike reveals what happens to us when we get worship right.

By design, God has created humans with the unique quality to worship. We were created to worship God. However, because of sin, our worship is often hijacked, and we find ourselves worshiping something or someone other than God. In this sermon, Pastor Mike explores this concept and then offers practical ways to assess what we are truly worshiping. He also offers help in "re-calibrating" our worship back to God.

But, the Apostle Paul implores all who follow Jesus to "not be conformed to the world any longer." Hope. We all need it, but not many of us find it. Why? Because we find ourselves repeatedly placing our hope in people or things that can't deliver what we're looking for. In this first Advent sermon, Pastor Mike reminds us why true hope is only found in the Lord, and encourages us to be hopeful people as we await the celebration of Christ's first coming and as we simultaneously await His second coming as well.
