As a prisoner of war, Daniel resolved not to compromise his relationship with the Lord, and God worked on His behalf in some pretty amazing ways - but not maybe in ways we would expect Him to. Pastor Mike looks at Daniel 1:8-21 and warns us about placing false expectations on God. Pastor Joe and Melissa Eastman share a powerful testimony about this as well.

Daniel was most likely a young teenager when he was taken into captivity by a foreign power and forced into a 3-year brainwashing campaign. However, don't be fooled by his youth. Daniel was a young man whose resolve not to dishonor God while in captivity was incredibly strong. Pastor Mike encourages us to imitate the resolve of Daniel as "aliens and strangers" in our land.

It's where we find Jesus approaching the two down-trodden disciples on their walk back home from Jerusalem to Emmaus. Rod helps us see a powerful and effective approach to evangelism in this amazing story.

In the final sermon of the UP sermon series, Pastor Mike reminds us of the words of King Solomon who - after experiencing all that life has to offer - realized that worshipping God is all that really matters. Solomon's words about the holiness of God in Ecclesiastes 5 serve as a great text to close out our study on the worship of God.

God's gift of music is one of the main ways we can worship Him. In this short sermon (because we worshipped a lot with music on this day!), Pastor Mike shows how our singing - whether good or bad - joins with countless other who sing to the Lord to form a beautiful worship song in the ears of the Lord.

The Scriptures call on us to worship God with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength. This call requires us to consider how all 5 of our senses can and should be engaged in worship. Pastor Mike continues to explore this concept, offering some more practical ways we can do this.
